6 years is pretty new, especially for a part that rarely fails. The easiest
thing to do is test it with a continuity tester. If you know the coolant
temp is below 95 F, then there should be continuity between the TTS and the
ground. I have also heard that some people will use teflon tape to help
seal the connection between the TTS and the water pump housing. While this
is normally a good idea for threaded fittings where water is trying to be
contained, the TTS gets it's ground through its threaded connection to the
water pump, so if this is shielded by a non conductor like teflon tape, that
could cause it to not function. I'm assuming you were not the owner of the
car when the part was replaced, so we don't know how it was installed.
