[DML] Shifting issue - Manual

Not a big problem, but I sometimes have trouble shifting into second, 
most when downshifting from a higher gear.  I'm not not sure if I am 
grinding second gear or trying to shove it into reverse by accident. 
Are there linkage adjustments or tightening of hardware that I should 
routinely check anyway?  Shifting doesn't seem very tight, anyway (is 
it supposed to be) Do I get access to linkage under stick boot?  
Perhaps there's a clutch line/pedal adjustment, instead?

Also, I haven't checked transmission fluid since I got the car.  Is 
this easy to check, top off?

Sorry I don't have my manuals with me right now. It's probably all in 
there, right?
