I had the same issue. It was a pretty bad shimmy until I got the
tires balanced, now it only shimmys when I brake (I suspect warped
rotors). But, I don't think an alignment will remove a shimmy, only
correct a drifting or pulling condition and save your tires from an
uneven wear. I would start by taking the car back and have them
check the balance on the front wheels, a tiny missing or miss-placed
counterweight can make a lot of difference at high speeds. If it
continues I would have a suspension shop take a look at it. Just a
thought.
