Bernie,

I think the Delorean only holds 13.2 gallons when
full.  The 'low fuel light' is tapped off the fuel
sending unit also, so it sounds like maybe your
sending unit in the gas tank is going bad.  They are
notorious for being inaccurate.  But, on a positive
note they are very easy to change.
