It will probably take a rebuild of the mode switch. Not expensive and not very time-consuming. A little difficult to access, that's all. This should only be the LEAST of your problems! You really should bring someone knowledgable on Deloreans in your area if at all possible. Check the frame for rust. Check the fluid levels and color. Examine the tires. Look at the wiring and fusebox. Take it for a ride checking brakes, alignment, acceleration, handling, operation of all controls. Inspect the sheet metal and glass. Try to get the service history either from the owner or the shop it was serviced at.
