Just put a timing light on the car and crank it. If the problem is that the rotor is pointed in the wrong direction it will still flash, just not when the timing mark is at TDC for #1. There are two marks on the crankshaft pulley. One is for cylinder one and the other aligns with a different cylinder. (Probably #3 or #6) Unless anotherr cylinder is 180 degrees out from cylinder 1 you should be able to just hook up to cylinder one and see if the light flashes when either mark is at TDC for #1.
