Paul - Yes, you should lubricate the bushing if it is otherwise in
good shape. I would suggest a lubricant that is not liquid or oil
based, as this area gets a lot of road dirt and dust. Oil or grease
will gather the grime. Try some graphite lubricant, or something
that will spray on, dry, and leave behind a dry residue. Spray
silicone might also work, but it may also increase the squeaking.
Tough call there. You probably have one of the original soft
plastic bushings, or perhaps one of the aftermarket ones that tended
to mimic the originals. Ours are quite stiff Delrin, resulting in
lower friction.
