The lads here always put the jack cradle on one or another of the frame crossmembers and put the whole end of the car in the air. It's not as comfortable as a lift, but for some jobs: oil change, clutch line, back-up switch, even an angle drive, it can be quicker. Pad the cradle with a towel or thick cardboard to keep from scratching the epoxy. I am also a little weary of jacking it up using a standard hydraulic floor jack and stands because of all the talk about cracked windshields due to improper jacking. What is the best way to lift the car with basic tools (2.25 ton hydraulic jack).
