Whether you disagree or not, as I said: "I specifically discussed this issue with their agent, making clear that from time to time I just wanted to be able to drive the car and not be limited as to the destination." This is exactly what the agent from Hagerty told me, as confirmed by at least one other person on this list who called them. Also, Hagerty's website clearly states that you can use the car for leisure drives and not just to parades or car events. I have another vehicle for work, as they require, and I do not drive over 7,000 miles annually, but if I want to take a nice drive into the Ozarks next week I am indeed covered. It may not be my daily driver, but at least I can use it as a car and not a museum piece. My point was that they do not limit you to car shows only, as some other collector insurance does. There also is no deductible, an agreed upon value, and they accept drivers as young as 18 (nowhere near a problem for me.) Anyone considering purchasing insurance ought to certainly ask all questions before buying a policy. My comment was primarily a statement of information should others find themselves in a similar situation where their conventional insurer will no longer accept our supposedly troublesome cars. My conventional insurer (State Farm) would only offer liability (despite a 20 year exemplary history with them), Allstate wanted $2,400 a year (no joke!), and the other collector policies I found were far too restrictive. I must firmly disagree with the statement that Hagerty will let you drive your car anyewhere you want. I am positive this is NOT a true statement! please check with your agent before you have an accident To address comments privately to the moderating team, please address: moderators@xxxxxxxxxxx For more info on the list, tech articles, cars for sale see www.dmcnews.com To search the archives or view files, log in at http://groups.yahoo.com/group/dmcnews Yahoo!
