[DML] emergency brake question

I have a question about the emergency brake pads.  Is there supposed to be 
one on each side of the caliper or is there supposed to be two on each side? 
(ie 4 pads in all)  I was looking in the manual and it only shows two, but I 
didn't know if that meant per side or total.
