Hi Stefan,

Have you installed a new fuel filter?  It sounds like you could use a  
new one anyway and if your current fuel filter is spent, it could  
cause hard starting problems similar (or perhaps identical) to what  
you've described (sputtering, almost dying, then roaring to life).
