Sounds like the wheel bearing to me. My car had the same symptoms and also a loud howl that increased with the speed and would go away when turning to the right. A new wheel bearing solved everything and was about $50 plus labor( the car was in the shop already so I figured why not let them do it.) I ordered a pair from John Hervey and have the other one packed away for when the other side decides to get noisy.
