A 1 ton Dually (mine) with the same trouble with of all things the 
ignition switch.  To put it the safe way, be sure and check 
everything involved with that ignition because the way you describe 
the symptoms, they're exactly alike.  Of course, if it's another 
problem, I'm pretty sure that it will be found.

But to say the least, yes this would even cause your bad ground.  : )
