[DML] DMCH's shifter boot early wear/tear ?

I purchased one of the new shifter boots that use a metal bracket
just over a year ago and already the boot has developed holes on
either side (from using 5th gear and reverse). After the fact, I 
noticed that the metal bracket had sharp edges and they could probably 
be smoothed and prevent this from happening.  If you have one of these 
new boots and you've not torn it, I'd suggest you'd check yours out
to make sure you don't accidentally cut your boot.
