When I bought #17145 every time I turned from a stop and go around a corner I heared the same "clunk" you mention. Later, I changed for newer tires and I realised the former owner had put one step higher tire (P205-60-14) in front instead of the recommended P195-60-14. I bought Eagle GT tires of the rigt size for both front and rear tires and I never hear that "clunk" again since that time (April 1998...) Hoe your car will somday be perfect!
