If I'm not mistaken, none other than Malcom Bricklin is responsible for importing Yugo's to US... DeLo can be called everything EXCEPT mature product line. Only a couple of prototypes built before production (by novice factory employees). We're all basically driving around in glorified prototypes. Wonder isn't that car has a flaws (let's be honest: it does). Wonder is it isn't so riddled with them as to be unusable. Look at it another way: at least 75% of production is still on the road 25 years later. Few other mass produced autos (8000+ units in 2+ years qualifies) can make such a claim. Another perspective: car is steeped in history. Has instant recognition among majority of public. Yet remains priced within grasp of ordinary owner, not only original purchase but ongoing maintenance. Car WAS a financial dud, of course. But so was the Concorde (somehow it exited to much better press...) Bill Robertson #5939
