Help with Starting

As a follow up, I tripped the RPM relay to allow the fuel pump to run 
coninuosly. The car will start but will not continue to run unless 
the gas is pressed down and the engine runs.

My battery is dead and I have been jumping to start. 

What could the problem be? ECU microswitch is bad? Battery needsto 
be recharged fully? ECU motor bad? Bad pulse coil?
