If putting oil in the cylinders helped that much you have stuck rings.
Put the Marvel Mystery Oil in the crankcase and run that for a while,
it might free up the rings. Now that it runs you can rule out any
major timing problems, induction problems, and ignition problems.
Concentrate on the fuel system and make sure the cooling system is OK.
