Re: Delorean destroyed in BTTF 3

While scale models of the BTTF Delorean and the steam engine train
were used for portions of BTTF 3, Bob Gale and Bob Zemekis talked
extensively about the full scale, actual Delorean that was hit by
the freight train near the end of BTTF 3 (on the BTTF DVD box set).

Bob and Bob mentioned the explosive charge used help the Delorean
dismember upon impact with the train engine. If you watch this
scene, you can see the explosive charge go off just before impact.
They said the train engineer said he always wanted to do that.

Along with actual Deloreans and small scale models that were used,
several full scale fiberglass mock-ups were also used, such as the
one used during the hover scenes, since light weight models were
needed to work with the forklift devices for take-off and landings.
