I presume you're referring to the DMC VIN list available for download 
on the DMCNews.com web site.

Some of the data in the VIN list was obtained from original DMC 
company documents that James discovered in some of the archives as 
part of the DMC (Houston) purchase of the Kapac inventory. James also 
managed to dig up some other records through various sources as well.

One of the sources of information from which VIN information for the 
list was obtained was original shipping manifests listing the cars 
that were loaded for shipment across the pond. "Manifest 10" was the 
10th shipping manifest for cars shipped to the US.
