It is probably easier to remove the engine and trans as a unit out the
back after removing the rear facia. This way you can remove and
reattach the trans easier after removing the entire drivetrain. It
would be difficult to remove the engine leaving the trans behind
without providing some sort of support for the transmission. I think
it is easier to remove the drive axles and mounts then to separate the
trans in the car. You will have to rig the assembly correctly as a lot
more weight is going to overhang foward as compared to a manual. To
remove the bolt on the front left mount on the trans you will find it
easier if you disconnect the left trailing arm from the rear carrier
and the front TAB. Leave the brake line connected, just move the arm
out of the way there will be enough room.
