With the vent assembly removed, install just the rubber boots, properly 
oriented (they are not symetrical), to the dash board duct work. Remove both 
vent assemblies from the vent assembly housing by gently prying them out 
towards the front, at the end where the pivot detent is located. Be careful 
to note how the star shaped retainer at the opposite end is assembled to the 
vent as it may fall off when you pop out the vent. Install the empty vent 
housing and massage the boots onto the housing through the now wide open vent 
openings. Then pop the vents back into the housing assembly with the star 
shaped retainers properly oriented.
