The reason that the dashboard goes brown under the Dash Mat is due to a
design which allows air to pass through the mat to provide a non
restrictive sound path for dash mounted speakers. Unfortunately this design
allows ultra violet rays to pass through the materiel causing the DeLorean
gray dash to turn brown. This problem can be eliminated by placing a light
blocking materiel between the mat and the dash with openings at the speaker
locations.
