Number of Cars built

Would there not be an accurate count from the Irish Gov't. Surely there had to be taxes paid, registration or accountability on the number of cars to justify the concessions given by local, and federal governments. Quite frankly, it makes no difference to me if there were 9353, 8721 or 8977.6 made. It's a neat car and less than 10,000 were produced. People that need the exact count have too much time on their hands!!
