The previous owner of my D installed a tapered coil spring around the cover
latch where it was riveted in place. Whenever you pull the release arm, the
spring aids in opening the cover. It has never failed and when the cover is
closed, you cannot tell that the spring was installed. The solution was
very simple and even more effective! If anyone wants some pictures of this,
let me know and I will get them for you.
