The DeLorean tachometer is wired to stop at the last tach pulse prior to engine shut off. Therefore if you rev the engine to 2k RPM and turn the key off the tach needle will remain at 2k until the engine is restarted. In most cases the engine is turned off at idle this will leave the needle at 750 rpm.
