[DML] Radio Question

Hello all,

I'm in the process of swapping out the old radio for a new CD player. I
really don't want to replace the speakers at this time, especially because I
don't want to take apart the entire dash to gain access. What I'm being
told however is that I will still need to rewire each speaker because the
old Craig radio has a common ground for the front and back speakers. Can't
you just splice the common ground into two wires for the connection to the
new radio? What are the ramifications of doing so? Are there any websites
detailing a radio swap?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
