[DML] running rough

Hello List,
I took my car down the street today to see how everything was working. 
It starts right up but then comes down and idles rough. After a playing with 
the pedal a few seconds this goes away and it idles great. I checked the 
linkage and cable and its fine. It is obviously something else. It wasnt 
starting a week ago but I replaced the RPM relay and now it starts great.
The car would not really acelerate at all, The engine just seemed to bog 
down and had tiny little backfires. It finally got up to speed and performed 
better, but it would still do the same thing when I slowed down and gave it 
gas again. When the pedal is released the car runs great! Also When I give 
it gas the engine takes a second or two to act. has anyone else had this 
problem? If anyone has some information on this please let me know. I will 
be leaving on Sunday for a week. (any members near Waterville Valley NH?) 
please let me know.
