James,
I too wanted to upgrade the radio myself while still keeping it as 
origonal as possible. I installed a 10 CD changer that runs through the 
existing origonal radio with minimal wiring. It works great for me. I put 
the changer on the back shelf behind the driver's seat. I have it held on 
there with minimal adhesive tape can holds it well, but can come off without 
any residue. If I want to make the car completely origonal again, I can 
simply disconnect it for shows.
