This sounds all too familiar to me. You probably have air trapped in your 
cooling system. The best thing to do is to go ahead and bite the bullet; 
replace all the coolant hoses if that has not been done in the past four 
years (Including the four under the intake!). If you want to drive your car 
and trust it, this is important. If you haven't replaced that old plastic 
coolant bottle, that may be a good idea too. When I first got my car, it 
would heat up to well past the point at which the coolant fans should come on 
(about 209 F) and never slow down. An air bleed by pass kit would be a good 
idea to get as well. That way you never have to bleed the system again! 
Perform a pressure test once you get it all back together. Make sure both of 
your cooling fans are hooked up, check to see what kind of fan fail relay you 
have (if it's the blue one, you will want to get something like a Fanzilla) 
and you will be on your way!

The no hot start problem probably is accumulator related. If you have a lift 
and some tiny hands, it may not be much of a problem for you.
