When I purchased my DMC (an '83) back last september from the original owner, he had made (or should I say had Don at DMC) make some modifications to the car. One thing that he had installed was a single BAE Turbo charger, I have not had my car on a dyno yet but Don said he thought it was putting out around 200hp. I have driven the stock cars both auto and standard, and the turbo adds a SIGNIFICANT boost in power. Don told me that these turbos are very reliable and he has rarely had to repair them. Don went on to say that he is currently working on developing a method of increasing the amount of fuel comming in to the cylinder, which would allow one to increase the PSI boost from the turbo. He told me that if he could increase my boost (which is a modest 6psi) to around 14 psi he would DOUBLE the horsepower output from my engine. Don was talking about possibly designing a type of kit at sometime in the future after he did this to his own car. I am quite happy with performance of my DMC, it is not in the same league as Corvettes, or mustangs, but it is 'peppy' with 0-60 times probably in the high 7 second range (and i am only guessing). __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!?
