[DML] Color on exhaust manifolds/catalytic converter

Hello all,
Are the exhaust manifolds and catalytic converter suppose to have a brownish 
color? To me they all look rusted, so who can tell - are the exhaust 
manifolds/catalytic converter made of stainless steel or ordinary steel? Are 
they prone to rust, or is it just the heat from the engine that has caused 
the brownish color? DMC JOE?
