I, too, experienced that dreaded belt vs hose situation early this past
summer. I had not gone to Jiffy Lube. What I had done, however, was to
lean on the hose while reaching to the rear of the engine compartment.
That pushed the hose into the belt. In addition to making sure the belt
is as far from the hose as I could possibly make it, I wrapped the hose
with an extra piece and tie wrapped it for extra protection.
