[DML] re: Who wants to be a Millionare

Yeah, most people do know it only from the movie. I think the flux
capacitor questions gives people an ice breaker question. I hear it all the
time. I drive mine almost everyday running errands around town so I get a
lot of questions.

Sometimes when people recognize it from the movie they'll ask what it is. I
say "DeLorean!" They say, "No, really, what is that? GM made it right?" I
guess they think that DeLorean was a made up name for the movie.

There is a good number of people who don't have a clue though--like the lady
that asked me if it was a '55 or '56! At first I didn't know what she was
talking about at first, but then realized see thought it was a Mercedes. I
said "Nope, 1981." See said, "I didn't know Mercedes made them that long."
Of course I told her it was a DeLorean ans we talked about the car for 15-20
minutes. I get a lot of people asking if it's a Lamborghini too.

Did anyone see the show who wants to be a millionare last night. One
of the questions was "What kind of car did Marty McFly travel back in
time in the movie "Back to the Future." Thankfully the person got the
answer right.

I find it anoying that everyone knows the car from the move, but other
then that, most people dont know anything about the car. If the movie
hadent been
made, I wonder how it would effect the value of the car. On one hand
fewer people would know about the car, lowering demand. But the movie
makes the Delorean look unreliable, which causes an unrealistic view of
the car.

Of course if they never made the movie, we wouldent have to hear the
"wheres the flux capasitor?" questions. I wonder if people who own
80's Trans Am's get Knight Rider questions?
