[DML] Re: Need shocks, Don't want Girlings Question!!

Odd as it may sound we have found that the original Girling shocks are in
the same durability category as the CV joint boots. The rubber in these
components is a very high grade that resists age related problems like
stiffening and or cracking. Most DeLoreans, including mine at 260K miles,
are still equipped with the factory installed shock absorbers and CV
joints. So go ahead and purchase the Girlings, you will be glad you did.

We also know of no reliable replacement for the factory installed shocks.

Calling around, it has been made clear to me that there are no new front
shock absorbers available other than original vintage Girlings that have
been on a shelf since 1983.

Is this true? Are there not other shocks available than these? I don't
want to buy a set of brand new 20 year old shock absorbers. I checked
Houston and Grady, they have the same part number.

Help!

Chris

BTW: my passenger front shock sheared off it's top and wore a large hole in
the shock tower on the frame.
