I disagree with you Claude, on your thoughts about the British Government. 
In fact, the British Government knew how the money was spent since they had 
people at the board. Also, the GPD scandal has often been blamed on 
Chapman/DeLorean. But what other fails to realize is that this deal was 
APPROVED by the British Government, that is, the Bank of England. Most of 
the money had to be approved by the Government prior to being used on 
anything.

The problem was really that the Government changed, from Labour to 
Conservatives, and the Conservatives would fullfill the previous Governments 
deal with the DeLorean. Funds and export guarantee were cut off, and the 
company folded. The biggest blunder however was that is cost the British 
taxpayer a lot more to close the factory that it would have cost to keep the 
company alive...

Political skirmish? Yes!
