[DML] No Power/Low Voltage

Last night while driving home my D lost power and I noticed that the Voltage 
meter was reading around 9 volts. I pulled over and shut it off. Then I 
couldn't get it started again. I had it towed to a local shop.

It sounds like the alternator except that I don't understand why there was no 
acceleration? It is a 5-speed. Have any of you experienced this in their D 
before?
