[DML] Re: turbo delorean and locking problems

A turbo delorean is most likely a after market kit. There were a few
factory prototypes that were sold after DMC and Legend industries (the
contractor for DMC turbo design) closed up. It is a remote possibility
that the car could be one of those prototypes. If it is, the VIN should
be in the low 500 range.

It is possible to get locked in the car. This happens when the crappy
Lucas relays fail, and the lock solenoid stays energized. I would guess
it is also possible that it could cause a fire when the solenoid coil
gets too hot. If this happens, you could just reach behind the seat,
and pull out the door lock relay module. The most common fix is to
replace the Lucas relay with a Bosch. There are also "solid state"
relays available now that should just plug in as a relay would. You can
also get a Lockzilla from PJ Grady which will prevent this problem,
along with a few other lock related problems. The Lockzilla is the
preferred, and more expensive solution. When I purchased my car, it had
the bosch relays installed, but after I had one of my solenoids go bad
on me, I had the lockzilla installed. I have never been locked in the
car.
