Ed - All of the auction bills, magazines (like Old Car Trader,
Sports Car Market, Collectible Automobile) and the Cars of
Particular Interest (CPI) Guide use the 1-highest to 6-lowest
scale. I believe it is the "official" scale and is used worldwide.
There are some minor differences, some drop the 6 designation
and lump non-running cars with running beaters. 1-4 are very
consistent. Concours results are not often used unless the
event at which the car is judged is also identified. There
can be a big difference between a National Corvette
Restorers Society 89 point Corvette and an Olmsted
County Free Fair 99 point Corvette. The NCRS-judged
Corvette will probably be the better car.

Okay guys, what's it gonna be? #1 or #6? I wanna be the first to say
my D (for sale at $25K) should be at the top, or bottom, of someone's list,
# 1 or #6! Who cares which you prefer? Is there really an official list?
Probably. Personally, I prefer the concours ratings of 100 points max.
(Hence, my rating of my D at a potential of 99+, with a minimum of spit
and polish.) My guess is that at the top or the bottom of the "list" is
where your wallet is; where you will find find my D, and what you think
of my D that's for sale (or any D for that matter).
