Hey List,
I just wanted to share my experience with DeLorean One, because I
believe I know why they ask for the complete VIN number once they pick up the
phone. This goes back to last January when I just bought my Delorean. I had
purchased the drivers side window from PJ Grady, because mine was broken out
and they were the only DeLorean specialist I knew at the time. Anyway, I
think it was a week later that I found out about DeLorean One on the DML. I
called them up to ask them a few questions and to order a free catalog (I too
received that stupid photocopied catalog.) And I believe that they put the
VIN#'s in a computer or something and put down comments about the owners,
because for some reason I was talking to Ed about the window and I think I
might have asked him a question about how to properly put the window in, and
he asked me where I got the window from and I told him PJ Grady and he blew
up on me. But later on a few months later I called him up again for a price
on the part and after he asked me for the VIN# and I gave it to him, he said
that his computers were down or something like that. So I really think that
they put something in their computers about the owners or something, because
I had my brother call them about 20 minutes later and he gave him a different
VIN# and somehow his computers were working again. Just for that reason I
only do business with PJ GRADY, in my eyes, they are the only DeLorean
specialist that really cares about the car and its integrity. Sorry about it
being so long.
Thanks,
Nick
