[DML] Hoods. Whats that all about?

I keep seeing messages describing hoods (or bonnets, if you're in Blighty
like me), suggesting there were several different types of hood used on the
DeLorean - could someone fill me in please, as this is obviously a dangerous
gap in my knowledge, preventing me from becoming the DeLorean Oracle!
