Ralph, We have installed hundreds of struts and have extensive experience with the door mechanics. One of the characteristic of different brands of struts is their "damping factor". i.e.: the strut slows the speed of the opening action just before the strut goes to its maximum extension. This prevents damage to the lower lift brackets. We have found that re-charged struts have little or no damping factor.
