Joe,

So if I understand what you are saying, that some D's may have this
adjustable part and this part can be over adjusted to compensate for loss
of pedel which will cause the master cylinder to fail.
Also that the stainless line is the correct and permanent fix for both?

I replaced my plastic line a while back so I expect the new master
cylinder to last
for a while. I also note that some owners report no problems in spite of
the plastic line.
