The tips should not have any effect on the exhaust. A leak will have an effect. It is a fairly easy procedure to remove the throttle body. Just be careful with the tiny clips on the link that goes from the throttle spool to the throttle arm. You should be able to see the valves by just removing the "W" pipe. You can try cleaning the valves right there without removing the throttle body too. If it is really dirty you may have to take it apart. If it IS really dirty you should figure out why. You may have a leak in the air intake and dirty air is getting into the motor. If it is very oily maybe you are blowing oil from the motor due to a cracked ring.
