[DML] Cannonball/Gumball question (James Espey?)

I couldn't find any info on this in the archives so....

Late last year(?) I saw a photo of a beautiful DeLorean with groovy 
checkered flag decals over the stainless and aftermarket wheels. It 
was also a DMCH monthly download photo.

I vaguely remember reading that this car had a modified engine, was 
owned by DMCH and had been run or was intended to run in the 
equivalent of the Cannonball Run/Gumball Rally...which I think 
occurred in Europe that year.

Did this actually happen? If so, what was the DeLorean's placing? 
How many miles was the race? Will it be raced again?
