[DML] front frame exten. rust

Hi, the 81 i want to buy sun. has bad rust on front frame extention. 
is there an easy fix or do you have to buy the whole repop for $1300? 
it looks like i could fab one  but wonder if it is worth the trouble. 
has anyone done their own or should i pass on the car? thanks , lacy
