That might just be your problem right there. The Thermostat gasket is supposed to wrap 
around the thermostat lip. It allows the thermostat to fully seal it, as it is sandwiched 
between the pump, and the housing.

I screwed this up the first time I installed my water pump, but was able to catch it right 
away when I did my pressure test.
