I'd bet it's the shift cable. The internal seal design is awful. As
soon as you stop the engine the fluid drains down into the trans and
out the cable. The cable design should have been on an angle with
the cable going up some. I think because of the seal design, if you
keep a full trans, the leak cannot be prevented. The cover for the
cable shrinks and exposes the porous cable housing. If you can stop
the leak at the front of the cable nearest the trans, the fluid
travels through the cable and comes out at the other end. I keep
screwing around with it but I can't seem to stop it. I have toyed
around with trying to modify the shift cable some - so far Grady's
fix or something similar seems the most practical but I cannot stop
the leak. BTW, I did pull the trans and put in a NOS cable with the
heat shrink fix. It was fine for about a year. Now it is the same as
it always was.
