[DML] Engine temp gauge not working

My engine temp gauge does not move or work at all (at engine start or when it's running).  I looked under the dash at all of the connections (without removing the binnacle) and they appear to be tight.  I even snaked my hand up there to push on them to be sure.  The engine connection is tight as well.  Is there some "quick fix" I can try before I start tearing things apart?  Or any other suggestions?
