There is a small so-called computer governor on the side of the
transmission. It controls the shift points, based only on rear-wheel
RPM (hint - this could drive an electronic speedo!!) and throttle
position. There is a vacuum modulator on the back of the trans, but
it only controls line pressure. If you want to modify the shift
points you need to modify the comparator circuits in the computer.
You might be able to fake it into shifting a little bit later by
pulling the throttle input cable all the way up, but conversly it
would downshift sooner too.
There are a few people working on replacment electronics for that
thing that use completely different (programmable logic) electronics.
This will allow you to change shift points on the fly and monitor the
shifting activity.
